The Mindfulnest children’s yoga classes all offer developmentally appropriate practices including mindful movement, breathing, and relaxation.
Each class incorporates fun and engaging activities such as music, games, stories, imagination, creativity, and sensory play. Children will develop strength, balance, flexibility, emotional regulation, gross and fine motor skills, body awareness, and social connection.
6 weeks – Pre-crawlers
This class offers a time to nurture the caregiver-baby connection. Through gentle guided movement (including adult postures), massage, and song, caregivers will bond with their infant while encouraging emotional and physical development. Each class offers a safe space to explore the world with your baby and connect with other caregivers.
crawlers – 2.5 years
This class combines toddler and baby-friendly yoga poses with songs, stories, and games to create an enriching caregiver/child activity, learning yoga through social interaction, repetition, and play. Children crawling to 2.5 years also learn how to relieve frustration, improve motor skills, and increase attention span by actively following directions.
3 – 5 years
These classes will include age-appropriate yoga and movement- including breathing, poses, games, stories, music, relaxation, meditation, and more. Your little one will get to practice fine and gross motor skills, social and group skills, and begin to learn mindfulness and breathing/calming tools.
6 – 9 years
This class gives children an opportunity to build their focus, strength, flexibility, mindfulness, and self-management. Using games, music, and activities, this class explores yoga poses, breathing techniques, mindfulness, mind-body connection, emotions, self-calming tools, and more… while still being playful and fun! This class will frequently include a small craft, activity, or reflective project as well as we explore strategies to cope with stress and challenging emotions.
10 – 12 years
Tween classes offer more challenge and another level of mind-body connection, while still being fun. Kids will learn more advanced stretching and strengthening poses and flows, work together in partner and group poses, learn stress management and breathing techniques, and practice mindfulness. We still use music to set the mood, games, and activities to make the class active and fun.
Teens
Teen classes offer more challenges and another level of mind-body connection, while still being fun. Kids will learn more advanced stretching and strengthening poses and flows, work together in partner and group poses, learn stress management and breathing techniques, and practice mindfulness. We still use music to set the mood, games, and activities to make the class active and fun, while giving these older yogis a more “adult” feeling class.
3-5 years
This 2 hour class will focus on preparing your child for a positive kindergarten experience. Each class will incorporate age appropriate skills including mindfulness activities to equip your child with the tools they need to build self esteem, manage stress, and navigate through social and emotional challenges. These skills will be taught through a variety of techniques including literature, movement, songs, art, meditation, and plenty of hands-on activities. Our Fledgling’s class will celebrate each child and support their learning needs in an upbeat and nurturing environment.
All Ages
Mindful Art classes focus on the creative process and offer a wonderful opportunity to practice mindfulness. The invitation is to allow each student to embrace how their creative impulses unfold. Mindful art also offers a time to notice your breath, thoughts, sensations, and emotions. Classes will use a variety of mediums and offer opportunities to create unique works of art. Classes will be geared to different age and developmental levels. We will offer both drop off and caregiver and me classes.
1-5 Years
Provide your child with a fun-filled class that will help expose them to a wide variety of art processes and sensory materials over the course of the session. Sensory classes are 45 minutes and require a caregiver present with each child. Dress for mess!
All Ages
Family Yoga is a wonderful opportunity for family members of all ages to bond! These classes always include breathing techniques, poses, games, mindfulness practices, and songs. You can expect partner and group activities and lots of fun! These are designed for all abilities with plenty of modifications as needed.
The MindfulNest offers a unique birthday party experience.
Each Party can be customized to a theme of your choice. Every party will include a yoga class, a creative mindful art project, and time for pizza and cake. We will provide pizza, water, and all paper goods. All you need to bring is your choice of dessert and the birthday child!
